Ending Survival

Ending Three Farewell:

Sarah stares at Jordan, Kevin, and Rev standing in front of her. The sound of the monstrously hordes banging on the other side of the door. Rev turns and smiles at her. The smile was different from those she has seen in the past. This time the smile of assurance made her tremble.

“Go...we’ll be right behind you” said Rev still putting up his smile.

Sarah shook her head. Her heart was torn at what she understood.

Jordan turned a little. His face half cover in blood. His eyes wondering around, as if trying to keep focus.

“What you waiting for kiddo? You better hurry and get going. Like Rev said…we’ll be right behind you”

Then Kevin took off his watch. He hand the watch to her. Trying his best not to look at her eyes.

“I don’t want this thing being a burden to me while I run after we do what we have to do. Take good care of it will ya. You know how much it means to me.” Kevin looked away as quickly as he gave her his watch. He stared straight at the banging door in front of him.

Rev leaned and put his hand on her shoulder.

“We’ll come back…that is why there is no need for us to say goodbye. Right?”

Sarah nodded.

“When this is over we’ll celebrate like we use to” Rev said it as his smile slowly faded.

Jordan gave a chuckle. “Yeah kiddo…Drink all we want and look at the stars, remember”

Kevin couldn’t help but cry. His tears forming in his eyes, trying to hide them from Sarah as if they were his personal treasure. However, Dana knew what at happen without seeing him. Her heart also cried out, but held it deep. She had to. She wanted to be there for Sarah.

Sarah understood the situation. Even if she was young, she understood. Especially what those three people she came to love wanted to say, but could not. They wanted hope and wanted Sarah to believe that there was hope. So she denied herself the reality and let her innocence take hold and let ignorance cover her mind.

“You promise…you’ll be right behind me.” Sarah said without looking away from Rev’s eyes.

“Yeah…right behind you” Rev said.

Dana took Sarah’s hand and she pulled Sarah away. Sarah tries to take a last look at them and then turn and ran with Dana. Sarah could not help counting her footstep. Counting as if they were her lifeline to them. The more she counted the more she wanted to stop.. Somewhere deep in her mind she heard herself say “They’ll come right behind me…Don’t forget…we…didn’t say goodbye!” and that thought kept repeating in her.

However, she saw them. Saw through those monsters. The infection had allowed her to. The three men who became her protectors, her friends, and her family. They had opened the door and fought through them. Jordan with his unusual strength even with his wound pushed through them. Kevin’s tears were now visible to her. She remembered Jordan commenting how a person like Kevin ever lasted in prison with such a cowardly heart. However, she knew then. It was his huge heart that was allowing him to face his fear. He wasn’t afraid of death. He was afraid of saying goodbye as she was. Then she saw Rev. His face in agony. Both him and Jordan leaning against one another. She wanted to yell at them, that it wasn’t over. That they had to come back. Then she heard the monster she was looking through scream. She was trying to will the thing to stop. However, all she could do was look. Its claw swept across Jordan’s chest. Rev plunged a tool into the monsters side. Rev try to help Jordan, but the monster then clawed Rev’s back. His agony filled Sarah’s mind.

“NO!” was all Dana heard her say. Dana turned and picked Sarah up. Sarah stared blindly at her.

Then Sarah saw Jordan in front of the monster and stabbed it. Sarah stared into Jordan’s eyes. His composed eyes soon closed slowly and he fell. She tries to will the monster to look down, but it then turn to Rev. He was on the other side of the hall. Using the wall as support.

“Uuhhaaah!!!” Rev streamed.

He rushed into it and both the monster and Rev fell. Then she saw Kevin upside down. The monster was staring at him on the floor looking up. Kevin seemed to hold onto something. She then heard Rev yell “Light it!”

There was a flash and the monster got up and attack Kevin. Sarah tries to turn her mind off. However, it was too late. She saw Kevin’s eyes look at her. But they were not his usual bright eyes. They were empty, quiet, dark. Then the monster turns. It was staring at Rev. The monster took a step and fell. It look down and so did Sarah. She saw a huge iron pole sticking out. Then she heard other monsters. Then for a second she saw Rev fall on the ground. The monster was also on the floor. It stared at Rev and Rev stared back at it.

“I’m sorry…Sarah…if you can hear me…I’m sorry…the stars…I…”

Then Rev’s eyes closed. Sarah stared at him.

“No! AHHH!! NO!!” Sarah screamed.

“You promise…YOU PROMISE!”

Her voice carry all through the compound. Dana did not have to ask. She knew. She wanted to also scream. Scream to let the pain subside even a little. However, she knew she did not have time. Not now. She grabbed Sarah and made her run. They did not have time. No time to grief, no time to complain, she just hoped enough time for them to escape.

The compound exploded. The monster’s scream covered in the blast. Sarah and Dana looked at the explosion from the hill top. The flames roar up and down. Sarah tightens her gripped on Dana’s hand. Dana looked down at the young girl. She knew how Sarah felt. She felt the same and knew no words to comfort her or herself. They both stare at the compound. It was over. They had survived, but to what they wondered. The family they had once known was now divided. Sarah moved her free hand and felt no one beside Dana next to her. Dana also felt no one beside her except Sarah. They both understood what they had lost. The open space will never truly be filled, but over time… maybe they’ll get use to the empty space and say goodbye to their pain.

This is a test. I want to see how many people will post. Any comment will do. As you can tell i do not have any post. How sad am I. I just want to know someone is out there. That is why I am asking you to take a moment, a minute, to write a simple comment. "Hi" will do. I wait for your reply.
