Dream Act 2010 HR 5281 FAIL TO PASS

The Dream Act 2010 or a.k.a HR 5281 was voted by the senate on Dec 18 2010 at 10:30 am EST on C-SPAN2. With the hopes of many undocumented children on the line, many of the senators (Dubin, Reid, etc) spoke out for them. In the end, the voting occurred. One by one each senators' name was called to vote I or Nay. At the start all the Democrats seem to be in favor of the Dream Act. Also some Republicans like Murkowski, Lugar, and Bennnett was in favor of the Act. But then Democrats like Ben Nelson, Collins, Baucus, and Tester voted no and so the Dream Act was doom. With votes of 55 YEA to 41 NAY, the Dream for many died that moment. We had become the country that was in favor of punishing the children for their parent's wrong doing.

If all the Democrats supported the Dream Act and gotten help from some Republicans the Dream Act would have succeeded. Why the hesitation? Whats wrong with the Nay sayers? Are they willingly to deport so many of the brightest kids out to other countries? What is the point of bringing in workers from other countries into U.S when the very skill workers needed was right here in the U.S.
I for one wish everyone would call their Senators. Write Emails. Why do they oppose a this bill? Its not Amnesty, when the act only gives right to the undoc children who did nothing wrong. Its not a free pass. When considering that it takes FIVE YEARS and service to U.S Army or attendance to 2 yr college to be allowed citizenship. This BILL does not give the undocs parents any legal right to stay in U.S. So why are they so oppose?

My hope is that senators Dubin and Reid take another take on the Dream Act. With this bill, new citizens will rise and many of American heart can take their place among the American of the whole.

Dec 2010 Drama Mary Stayed Out All Night

Mary Stayed Out All NIGHT

Plot:
Korean Actress Moon Geun Young (Known for My little Bride, Innocent Step, etc) is back as Wi Mae Ri (Pronounce MARY). A sweet, honest girl who is born to a father who is a bad business man with too much debt. Like any typical love drama she finds herself with accidental encounter with a guy name Kang Moo Kyul (played by Jang Geun Suk) that starts out forming relationship through misunderstanding and obligations. If her life wasn't complicated, she comes to find out that she has a informal marriage obligation set by her father to Byun Jung In (played by Kim Jae Wook).

REVIEW (SPOILER ALERT!): The first two episodes I watched really showed me how much Moon Geun Young is a capable actress. At first when I saw her with that long curly hair, I thought "Oh Great! Distraction." I really hate it when Korean drama tend to impress audience through props and fancy clothes to hide the actors/actress skill. However, Moon Geun Young's style really show. The sound of her voice is appropriate with her new look and the honestly of her character is portray by her subtle pauses and manner.
This is in contrast to the character Kang Moo Kyul. No offense to Jang Geun Suk, I like his acting on the drama "You're Beautiful." His mean demeanor-yet touching character really told the audience he cared for the protagonist (Park Shin Hye-who I found really wrong for the part). But in this drama he is suppose to play the loyal/lonely/hard to trust/mysteries character. At first you can see his devotion to his band when he pays off the violation fee to his manager to stay with his band. But when it come to him and Moon Geun Young I did not feel the conflict of trust. The whole chasing scene where Moon Geun young goes to get his signature to avoid suing her, was lacking. The only part where you see his "hard to trust" was when he told her blatantly he never sign anything because people messed with him in the past. Where is his reluctance? I only find him appropriate for this part base on his looks, long hair, and sheek clothes.

You should expect from this Drama a "Love Square." There is another male actor Jan Wook Kim as Jung In Byun and another female actress Hyo Jin Kim as Joon Seo. Basically

Wi Mae Ri -LIKES-> <-LIKES-Kang Moo Kyul Wi Mae Ri -WILL COME TO TRUST-> <-WILL COME TO LOVE- Jung In Byun Jung In Byun -Curruent Interest-> Joon Seo
Joon Seo- Currently Love-> Kang Moo Kyul
In the end the basic come to realization to love by protagonist (Wi Mae Ri) is expected.

SHOULD YOU WATCH IT? (1 Bored to distract thoughts of suicide-10 Must watch & Avoid Sleep)

YES - score of 7. Basically you should watch it but only if you have some free time.

Dream Act 2010

Dream Act 2010

Senator Harry Reid pushed the vote for Dream Act for next week. He hope this will give the Pro-Dream Act voters to try to gain more Senators on their side. They need 60 votes to pass the Bill. The Dream Act, when pass, will allow ONLY those illegal immigrant under the age of 30 (also came to U.S under the age 16) to gain rights to stay in U.S. This is a great way to help those who came to U.S as children and who had done nothing wrong. This bill does not reward the children but give them the chance to live the normal life that many American children take for granted. Like Loans for School, the rights to Drive, open a bank account, pay taxes, work, etc..
Many opponents of the bill feel cheated by this Bill. But their main point is that the law is being broken by allowing the Dream Act to pass. This is not the case when considering the illegal immigrants are children who came unknowingly by their parents into U.S. Where does the blame fall... the driver (Parent) or the passenger (child) when the car hit another vehicle?
Also the so call "Mother's of America" claim that the Dream Act burden the American Tax payer and will take Jobs from Americans. Instead by passing the Dream Act, it will help increase the U.S budget as many of these kids as require by the bill to attend 2 years of college (without FEDERAL GRANTS), pay taxes, and do not commit any unlawful acts for 5 years to qualify for Dream Act. Umm...giving these kids rights will also not help those lose their jobs when they already do not have jobs. The unemployment rate is up 10%. Instead these ambitious children will most likely create new jobs. As many are top students.
SO PASS THE DREAM ACT. TELL your Senators to vote and get the needed 60 votes.

P.S. For those Opponents who keep shouting AMNESTY! Remember what the definition is. AMNESTY is giving guilty party innocence. The illegal Children are not guilty of anything but being born from wrong doing parents. Also this bill does not allow the Children to help their undocumented parents, relatives, and so on who are already living in U.S. By U.S definition the parents cannot be come to U.S for at least 10-25 years once deport it.
