Television Series to Watch Top 6 April 2013

Television Series to Watch Top 6 April 2013

                 GAME OF THRONE

1. Game of Throne - Can't get enough. I read the book and I still find myself watching the tv series just to watch the intrigues and betrayal to take place. The psychological aspect of power and control is so addicting. Just hate it that I know how it will end for some of the characters. I give it the top spot because I'm still hoping the producers go way ahead in the series before George Martin (the author of Game of Throne) finish his series and end up creating their own great ending.

                       VIKINGS
2. Vikings -Doesn't have a strong character built up or a deep story, but I find the religious and lifestyle aspect of the Vikings interesting. Also their attitude that death is so much better than life. Best part was the second episode (WARNING SPOILER) where the Vikings take on the English. Love how they pulled in soldiers one at a time into their formation to allow the other Vikings behind to slaughter them. It took the second spot as it is fast pace. The producers or maybe the director decided to skip the whole development of the characters and fast forward to months and years so one moment the monk is bald and the next he has hair and beard.

                   SUPERNATURAL
3. Supernatural - The Brothers are back! They hunt for monsters that goes bump in the night. Plus with a witty banter to lighten the mood. (WARNING SPOILER) And with them searching to close the Hell's door I find myself wondering how Dean and Sam will pull this off. I really hope this doesn't end with one of the brother sacrificing themselves for another again. That never work. Plus that's sort of a lame way to end a great show (which I am not supporting. They can do so much more). Its live to fight together or die together with a bang.

                      NIKITA
4. Nikita - The Heroine spy with the heart of gold. Who doesn't love this show. It got action, romance, and psychological twist. (WARNING SPOILER) Just hate that Amanda didn't have more twisted agents by her side to fight Nikita. But she did a nice job ruining Division. I do miss Percy though. He had a flair for setting up situation that even the viewers could believe a man of his intelligence could pull off. I hoped for more from Amanda. The storyline with her was a let down. That is why Nikita is four in my book. Or else it would have been up there in the top two.

                  ORPHAN BLACK
5. Orphan Black - (SPOILER) Okay the idea of clones was done many times before. But you really have to give the actress credit. She really can play the different parts. I mean the make up and hair is not so well done. But the contrast when she's playing the good cop Elizabeth to the Science Geek Cosima is so amazing. I really do believe their different people. Also the pace of the series is nice that its not so complicated like not focusing several episodes on how she was going to destroy DNA evidence. She just went to the computer and click delete. I hate it when series make it complicated and prolong this. They drag it on like one episode the character knows he/she has to rid of evidence but take three episodes to do it. I like my television series simple and complicated only enough so I don't loose interest.

                     ARROW
6. Arrow - The character is base on DC comic. The Green Arrow remake is certainly well done. With scenes of the character training and back story in how adversity can create a man for the better, I find it inspiring and a good dose for the in between in my workout. I know its fiction but watching a guy do several push up and pull up allow me to relate. I just wish they proceed a little faster on the Green Arrow's back story. On how he became strong. The flash back is taking way too long. It should end the first season with him joining the secret army on the island. That way the next season can focus on how he completed his training and betray them.

Expect my last 6 pick...If you have your own top choices, leave comments below.

Watching Drama to get into good School

             The Dramas to watch...
Master of Study (2010)

Dragon Zakura (2005)

Well, the premise is similar in both version. Both is a tale about a new Teacher who makes it his mission to get a handful of students into a ivy league college.

"Dragon Zakura" is Japanese Drama the "Master of Study" is Korean drama. I originally watched the Japanese version "Dragon Zakura" first so maybe that's why I like it a little more than "Master of Study." Either way, If you find yourself procrastinating why not just watch one of these dramas. Just put your books away and give-GIVE!!! yourself to the power of drama. After a day or two you'll be done (if you don't sleep) with the show and then you can get back to studying or finishing up that long essay. Hey, trust me you'll learn something from drama like I did (and people say television is bad for you).

The very first time I learn about memory trick was from Dragon Zakura when the teacher showed his students how to remember random list by connecting them with visual pictures. By giving meaning, your mind tend to remember the words or phrases. After that I found myself searching and learning about Mnemonics and read about people with incredible memories. Then in few months I find myself practising first seeing how my mind remember images and using that to connect random numbers starting at 1 (to Tree), 2 (to Noah), and so on. I was so hooked and influence by the drama I too tried hard to get into a good college.

I don't mean that these two drama will somehow radically change your lives and get you into Harvard. But I do believe that everything we experience and do add something to our self being. So if your going to watch something, why not watch these dramas. You never know, you may be inspired to learn and you too may enter a prestigious school.

The Other Me

A short Prologue of a book I am writing.

A glint of white light flash across his eyes and he darted away just in time to avoid the shot that rang after. Randal Marks did not expect company. Not so quick anyway. The stranger kept shooting at the wall where Marks had managed to dive to and used for cover. After a short while the gun fire stopped but Marks heard the familiar un-clipping sound. No doubt reloading for second round. Marks pulled out his nine millimeter, a standard for the department of Wendell Police. But he held his finger away from the trigger. There was no way he was going to fire. That meant leaving a clear sign that his gun was used and bullets to prove it. Not something he wanted.

There was no option to run. The small apartment had one room where the stranger had fired his gun from, sure enough to sounding the police. Marks was stuck in the kitchen and as far as he could see there was no window big enough to jump. But with the apartment being on the fifth floor he didn't like the odds of diving feet first.

“Can we talk?” Marks called out. He wondered afterwards why he even asked. Like the guy who was shooting at you would be happy to chat. But he had to do something. With the police on the way time was running out.

“Sure why don't we. Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my house?”
Great that voice, Marks thought. He definitely knew his assailant now. The very man he planned to set up; James Monroe.

“Do cops usually shoot first then ask question?” Marks said and slide the kitchen knife he found on the counter into his sleeve.

“If you know I'm the police, why don't you come out, hands up, slowly.” Monroe said and Marks notice that the voice was low. Surely to mask the fact that Monroe was inches away from the wall.

“I remind you officer. I am unarmed.” Marks put his gun into his hoister and walked hands up, backward toward Monroe. A very naive thing to do showing your back to your enemy.

“Turn around” Monroe shouted, but Marks took little notice and inched further closer. “Turn around and let me look at you.”

“Hey now.” Marks said calmly. “As you can see I have nothing in my hands. My gun is in the hoister on my belt.”
Monroe came close. “I know you don't I?”
Marks turn his head to the side to give the man a good look and also took the chance to see how close the man was. Monroe smirked and shove the gun to his head.

“Wrong move rookie. I'll be sure to be sad when I tell the brass that you died mistaken as a trespasser."

When Monroe got close to reach for Marks weapon Monroe only managed to get a shot out before all Marks heard was a gargle sound from his open throat.
